From Under Strange Suns
A selection of development pieces from the creation of my original character Slugg, for entry into the 2023 Atomhawk art competition.

From The Return
My submission for the annual Atomhawk competition. The theme for this particular work was ‘The Return’, and I wanted to focus on the emotions behind a soldier’s return from battle, rather than the moment he triumphantly walks through the gates.

From The Return
Development pieces created in the process of working on this particular entry for the Atomhawk art competition. I wanted to create two characters with very different societal roles, but you could still tell were part of the same community.

From The Tale of Quinn
Mother is the leader of a street gang. The gang’s members are made up of runaways, outcasts, and those that have been shunned by society.

From The Tale of Quinn
Some different looks for my original character Quinn, combining two different aesthetics - traditional Japanese kimono shapes and patterns as well as modern, utilitarian fashion.

Using a nude, humanoid form to ground them a bit more in reality, these creatures were designed for an illustration based around the idea of not being broken by all of your inner demons.

With a body and mind that have been ravaged by radiation, The Canary skulks through the wreckages of a post-apocalyptic world, scavenging for anything (or anyone) he can find.

A solitary and mysterious figure, The Priest sets out on his quest to the Tomb of the Giants, accompanied only by his familiar - an enchanted elephant.

Combining an iron will with the calmness of a still lake, the Water Monks are chosen from birth because of the colour of their eyes and are raised to protect the planet’s most precious resource.

A custom skin design for the character of Moira from Blizzard’s Overwatch. It’s inspired by the fashion of Marie Antoinette as well as the decadence of a French patisserie.

A selection of character portraits, sketched while considering how each one could look different to the next through (mostly) subtle changes in facial features.
